Funny book, the Celestine Prophecy. Not as a matter of humour, but as a matter of spiritual guidance. If you've read it and liked it, you already feel bonded to me just for me mentioning it. Neat, eh?

It's a bible of sorts. For instance, I was listening to co-workers talking about going to church (one of them had just started going again), and one of them mentioned a Bible quote that they didn't quite understand though they felt they understood other scripture that they had recently read. The other co-worker said, rather matter of factly, "Then it's not something for you to understand right now. You will in time, but right now you aren't meant to." The other accepted this as fact without question. Apparently that's how religion works.

It's similar with the Celestine Prophecy. Alright, it's exactly the same. It all has to do with spiritual awakening. The Celestine Prophecy doesn't, by any means, discount religions, but rather focuses on the energy of all living things to reach a state to accept spiritual guidance. The evolution of the soul.

I believe in the Nine Insights of the Celestine Prophecy whereas other people might consider it hogwash, in which case, my answer is "Then you just aren't meant to understand it yet."

The first Insight deals with synchronistic events. You know, when you have those times when you go through unrelated events or have conersations with unrelated people, and they all seem to end up dealing with the same thing. Basically, it's the universe telling you that you have something to learn or something to share.

And here's why I bring it up.....

C-Otter and I were having a brief discussion on philosophy in one of our infamous e-mails (brief because I know close to nothing about philosophy) and I was mentioning for some reason or another how people are moving away from the church but it seems becoming a part of a spiritual "collective consciousness" as illustrated in Celestine Prophecy. Now, I read the book a few years ago, and I don't necessarily think of it often. It wasn't a book that changed my life, but more put into writing things that I already felt. But since I had mentioned it in my e-mail, it put the book back in the forefront of my thoughts.

I thought of how I should either read it again, or refresh my memory on what the insights are. Things like that.

Then, tonight at work, a man sat down at my table. He had been lingering about it for a few minutes, had walked away, then decided to play. (I'm a casino dealer if you're not up to speed.) He won the first spin and mentioned that he had "gotten a feeling" to sit there, (to which the first thought in my head was "you just got lucky, punk") but then he mumbled something about "Celestine Prophecy". I'm assuming he mumbled it because he hadn't expected me to know what it was. Fitting because I wouldn't have expected him to be the "type" to read it.

So, that synchronistic event came together. I said, "AH! The Celestine Prophecy! So THAT'S why you sat down at my table." He told me that he had just started reading it on his way here, and I told him that I had been thinking about it lately.

I don't think the First Insight could have been illustrated better for him.
