It's wonderful to be here... it's certainly a thrill... You're such a lovely audience, I'd like to take you home, oh yes, I'd love to take you home...

Can you guess what I'm listening to? And, by the hi, I love the movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band, I don't care what the Food Is Not Lovers say. Of course, I watched the movie (repeatedly) way, WAY before I knew what was going on, and I haven't watched it since. Fuck, I didn't even know that Aerosmith was in it until I heard that podcast a couple of weeks ago. I swear to God, I didn't know that the BeeGees were in it until I was in my 20's. All I knew when I was little was that it was a very colorful movie with very familiar music.

I just looked up the movie on IMDB... Steve Martin was in it? No shit?

Alright, if anyone has the movie and wants to pass it along, think me.

Anyway, this Beatles album "1967-1970" has been in my life forever. I vaguely remember my mom having it on 8-track, we had it on tape, which I consequently stole from her, and now I have it on mp3. Apparently we decided to skip it on vinyl. (Though we did have 2 pounds shy of a TON of vinyl.)

I just spent 20 minutes reminiscing. I typed it all out. I am kind enough to have subsequently edited it out. It was ugly. It ended in tears.

In conclusion, it's always "Hey Jude" that moves me forward. I don't even know all the words to the song. (I don't know the words to LOTS of songs that I should. It's a weird thing that I don't understand myself.) I don't even know half of the words to the song, but I know the intent. At least, I know what the song means to ME. The song never brought me to tears until I got to see Paul McCartney perform it live 16 years ago with Linda McCartney and co. on backup. I had never felt the real power of a song until that moment. The moment he said "Hey, Jude", I felt myself go flush and tears sprouted to my eyes. And now I still tear up a little when I hear that song.

Still didn't move me to learn the words or anything.

This isn't what I had intended this entry to be about at ALL.
